A familiar sight at one time. Cudjo's Cave on highway 24E was open 24 hours a day. It was an oasis in the wee hours of the morning. It was a warning of the trecherous road ahead over the mountain. It was a great place to stock up on cigarettes at low prices. A place where the kids could get cheap trinkets.... a rubber knife, a silly postcard, a coonskin cap. To me, it meant that we were almost to grandma's house. |
